Domaine Lionel Bussy 2005 Chablis
Out of the bottle this wine brings a ridiculous golden straw color. The nose is really nice, some spring meadow flower bouquets and slight crisp apple. There’s also “something” on the nose that I just can’t quite figure out. Reminds me of those clear-colored gummy bears, kinda’ pear-like yet uniquely not pear. What in the hell is that flavor? Whatever it is it’s nice. The palate brings some extremely pleasant action, like licking a huge clothesline of freshly washed clothes drying in the cool spring air after being pelted with grapes. Really nice. Smooth, lush, really complex and beautiful. There’s something about this wine that reminds me of my childhood. The finish brings some light lemon almost lemon meringue type notes, nice crisp apple and pear finish… Wow. Nice. Absolutely solid. $22 is slightly moving towards the pricy side but really this is an excellent bottle of wine. Highly recommend even at $22. A green light girl. Absolutely brilliant Chardonnay.
