<p>One of my all time favorite cookbooks, the skull and knife notwithstanding. Classic, basic, French brassiere dishes that date back hundreds if not thousands of years, dispensed neatly in this field manual put together by a tyrannical chef. Having had “many” beers with him many years ago he shared my philosophy that often times the best things in life are the simple things. And if not, the best things are often made better by simplification. It’s the crusty baguette and stinky cheese amongst friends and not the elaborate eight course black tie formal that really brings pleasure and memory to the forefront of life. Looking back I tend to reflect on and relish all the simple things as I have seemingly forgotten about complexities. Often times less is so much more.</p>
