One of my all time favorite cookbooks, the skull and knife notwithstanding. Classic, basic, French brassiere dishes that date back hundreds if not thousands of years, dispensed neatly in this field manual put together by a tyrannical chef. Having had “many” beers with him many years ago he shared my philosophy that often times the best things in life are the simple things. And if not, the best things are often made better by simplification. It’s the crusty baguette and stinky cheese amongst friends and not the elaborate eight course black tie formal that really brings pleasure and memory to the forefront of life. Looking back I tend to reflect on and relish all the simple things as I have seemingly forgotten about complexities. Often times less is so much more.

Shot in downtown Seattle. I would so love to know the purpose of the crate, assuming it has one outside of taking the piss. Would have been nice not to have taken this at such a high ISO but so be it.

A miniature chalk board held up by a porcelain pig and styled off the chalk boards of Parisian cafes. Apparently, my two year old friend wants sunshine for dinner.

Some of my preliminary attempts at night time tripod photography. So lets start with lessons learned real quick. Always bring a flashlight or headlamp, otherwise you are screwed when you need to change a camera setting. A remote seems indispensable. And when shooting any kind of bright objects I highly recommend against any type of camera filter.

For me, simply the perfect cup of coffee. Cut with about 60% Victor's Celtic Coffee monka blend and 40% Trung Nguyen Culi Arabica blend. The grounds are put in a percolator with boiling water. I drink it straight, black without milk or foam, and iced. Always always always iced.

Perhaps the second best burger in Seattle, Red Mill rolls in with this outstanding effort. Bacon, swiss cheese instead of cheddar because it's a flat better burger cheese period, fresh lettuce, fresh red onion, mill sauce and a remarkable bun.

I find night photography some of the most enjoyable moments of the trade. It tends to be more difficult, more quiet, and in some odd unmanufactured way, more spiritual.

This was shot at the local park with my 35mm. I'm a little surprised, quite honestly, that I got away with ISO400 but the bright lights helped.

A branch seriously sick with the Seattle fall shot out at Remlinger Farms in Carnation Washington. Thankfully there was some metal scrap in the background that gave me some interesting contrast and boketh.
