The Return of the Premise
First Premise - Today is Bike to Work Day and I was an active participant. Nothing like getting up at the butt crack of dawn and stroking into work. Straight into the parking garage and up the freight elevator I went. Opened the firm door and wheeled my cycling machine straight into my office. I'm counting on getting a few strange looks from the lawyers, but having a bicycle in your office is hardly the worst thing in the world - nothing like getting caught with your pants down, especially when your screwing the neighbors cat.
Second Premise - I'm about two seconds away from canceling my membership to anti-slacker My god. People plugging their rock bands in shameless self promotion; computer programming lingo; and an assortment of other stuff that needs to be completely rethought. My own personal belief is that slacking is not inherently bad. It's gotten a bad rap. In fact a lot of people could use some slacking induced time to themselves. Some time for self reflection, some time for relaxation, and some time for slacking. People are so caught up in shit that does little more than serve some self fulfilling notion that "doing" things is a good idea and people should refrain from falling into the rut of slacking off. I don't buy it. It's not necessarily how often you do something, rather what you do with the time you have. I think slacking in general should remain neutral, and I will not be any part of an organization that promotes anti-slacking. You want to know what slacking can get you? Slacking gets you peace of mind, relaxation, time to prioritize your life, and time to dream. Like I said, people should leave work earlier every other day, and go to the park and do nothing but stare at the clouds for three solid hours. No music, no books, no conversation, no microwave hotdogs with cheese in them, no People magazine, and no fuckin' cell phones. Just sit there and stare. It's good for you. Anti-slacking is a thing of my past. My time there is done, and I'm permanently back here in my rightful place at the rant.
And please, don't take it personally Merc. It's the sum of the parts that make things click, not the individual behind the creation.
Third Premise - Trip update. I am now well over one fourth of the way to my trip funds, and I'm $200 over my goal for this pay period. I'll be in a country where english is not spoken by 2002 with 20 grand.
And remember, Don't take life too Seriously.
